Guess what, it worked! Put it back together and it works great again. When the two devices are paired, you can now. The Harmony Hub will connect itself to your phone via Bluetooth, infrared, or Wi-Fi to send and receive signals. For example, you’re going to use your phone as the remote. I was careful to avoid areas with plastic parts and figured what the heck, it was unusable. To put it simply, the Harmony Hub works by connecting itself to a remote control. I decided to try to re-reflow it with my soldering station hot air gun. I took it apart and inspected it to find nothing obvious. My Harmony went on the fritz a while back and I noticed that it seemed related to physical movement of the remote. I very much like the remote (aside from how easy it is to accidentally activate the touch screen) and especially like the hard buttons that I can control without looking at the remote and also that it is not IR and I can hold the remote any direction in any location. I suppose if you have stopped watching anything but your phone or laptop maybe? I watch streaming exclusively (youtube tv, youtube, netflix) and use my Harmony Elite exclusively to control the TV/Stereo/Roku/Lighting. That’s the reason you’re able to put the hub in a cabinet. So you need an RF capable remote to work with the hub. The reason the 650 doesn’t work is it’s an IR only remote. When pairing is successful, the LED on the hub will blink green for 2 seconds and then turn solid green. The 950 is the remote that is sold with the Elite - only without the hub. Press the Menu and Mute buttons on the remote at the same time. if you use the hub and Smart Control in one room, and you use the Elite remote in the other room, that should. The Smart Control remote does NOT have an IR blaster. The Elite remote also has an IR blaster, though using it is optional since the hub has one too. Press the Pair/Reset button on the back of the hub. Logitech calls IR transmitters 'IR blasters.' The Harmony Hub has an IR blaster. It has a series of buttons that are locked down, meaning you probably wont be able to use them at all. Avoid the Companion remote like the plague. Its great Itll pair up with your hub easily & you can set it up however you want in the Harmony app. Not sure why streaming services makes a universal remote obsolete. Connect the hub to power or your computer. The Smart Control remote is what you want.
